It's interesting that Mrs. Lot is turning into salt before she even leaves the city. She is turning around so soon. Most illustrations have her on a mountainside looking back. I just thought it was interesting. Kill her! Kill her! Jehovah, kill her! A new cheer for all who are dear as the end will soon appear.

If Jesus had to choose his earthly organisation NOW, who would win?
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know that the society claims that jesus invisibly chose the bible students (forerunners of jw) in 1919 to be his organization here on earth.. yet, as we know, so much of what they then taught and did was wrong according to current teaching and practice.. the reply witnesses will give is something like "they were the most sincere seekers of truth blah blah...and jesus could see their potential".
so, pretend for a moment that the current organization and the 1919 organization were both in concurrent existence at the time he invisibly came to choose.... which would he choose?
the current or former?.

Suffering And The Meaning Of Life
by Brokeback Watchtower inwhat is the meaning of life?
we all die, so what is the meaning.
religion tries to bridge the gap with absolutist answers to this problem of existence by giving immortality to it's members in good standing(so join us or parish).helps to pay the bills using fear of annihilation to keep members as a source of material $$uport.

Convention audio clips mentioning 1975
by Splash inthis is very topical so i thought i'd share a compilation document of 10 audio clips.. these are mostly from before 1975, taken from convention recordings at the time, stressing the importance of 1975 and getting the crowd excited in anticipation.. entire talks are embedded but it's been typed out what was said and the time point it occurs.. this document is 220mb, so be warned.. i hope you're not triggered by the drawn out assembly speech style because this is full of it.. if anyone ever tries to tell you that there was no mention of 1975, hopefully this will give you some evidence.. if anyone with the ability could turn this into a short, shareable video, that would be much more useable and shareable than this (no disrespect to the creator).. click here for the recordings.
it will be gone in one month..

The Amazing Andamanese People
by LoveUniHateExams ini recently watched a documentary about andamanese people on youtube.. the andaman archipelago is officially ruled by india and lies in the bay of bengal, between the eastern coast of india and burma.. the indigenous people are or were stone age people, hunter-gatherers.. they have the general appearance and stature of african pygmy people.. there are 4 main surviving groups: great andaman (made up of several tribes, although the remaining people are few in number and have discarded tribal boundaries), jarawa, onge, and sentinelese.
i've read a bit about their languages (only on wikipedia - tsk!
tsk!

The thing I love about these little island dwellers is how their folklore saved them from the big tsunami that wiped out 200,000 people back in 2004.
"When the earthquakes struck, the Onges moved to higher ground deep inside their forest and escaped the fury of the waves that entered the settlements," he told the BBC News website after talking to some of the inhabitants who knew some Hindi as well as their own ancient languages.
He said another aboriginal people - the Jarawa on South and Middle Andaman - also fled to higher ground before the waves."
I wrote a paper on them in college and it was amazing to read how they incorporated the natural world in their dogma so that they acted to save themselves. When the ocean receded they knew the God's were offended and were going to send the waves to punish them. Head for the hills! Westerners got a beer and walked to the beach to see the tide go out, lol.

Same old cult message, different tune. The proof has been "all around us" since 1879, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1948, 1975, 1986 and before the end of the 20th century. He sang, "No more false alarms". Perhaps he should sing, "No more false prophecy's?".

The new personality
by longgone ini've been thinking about the changes we make within ourselves after leaving the wts cult.
i'm not referring to how we spend our time now that we actually have some, but who we have become, or working to be?.
the gb carries on and on about "stripping off the old personality and putting on the new one.

In the mid to late 1980's, there was emphasis on The New Personality and the "Fruitage of the spirit." It was very refreshing to find such emphasis when I returned to the borg after 11 years inactivity. There was a series of articles on the fruitage of the spirit in the mags. There was a brother who would pick one of the listed fruits of the spirit and spend the month focusing on it. I thought it made me a better person, not better than others, better than myself. I thought the new personality was about the most important thing because it meant personal growth and more of the identifying mark of true Christians, love.
By the end of the 80's they stopped emphasizing it. In fact they downplayed character development and promoted more service. I kinda lost interest when it became more a game of numbers.
